Bill Prewett
After graduating from Texas Tech University with a degree in landscape architecture in 1980, Bill returned to Houston where he began practicing design-build, residential landscape architecture. In 1998, he partnered with Tom Read and founded Prewett, Read & Associates Landscape Architects and Contractors. Today, he oversees all aspects of the company. Bill has been a registered landscape architect since 1987.
Outside of work, Bill devotes time to various civic associations and non-profits, enjoys attending St. Luke’s United Methodist Church and Genesis Sunday school class with his wife, and spending time with his three children and two grandchildren. A true outdoorsman, Bill can often be found hunting, fishing, farming, ranching and gardening.
Tom Read
With nearly 30 years of experience as a landscape architect in Houston, Tom oversees all aspects of Prewett, Read & Associates, of which he is a founding principal. He has also been a registered landscape architect since 1995. Tom holds a bachelor of science in landscape architecture from Texas A&M University and is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects and the Texas Nursery and Landscape Association. When he’s not at work, this native Houstonian enjoys spending time with his wife and kids. You may even find him playing the guitar with his band in the Houston area.
Jake Eiswirth
Jake grew up in Louisiana where he worked for his family’s full-service landscape company. He earned his Certified Turf Specialist designation from Louisiana State University and traveled throughout several Gulf Coast states consulting for, and helping maintain, athletic fields, golf courses, sod farms and landscape companies. In 2001, he moved to Houston where he managed several landscape maintenance departments throughout the area before joining Prewett, Read & Associates in 2007. Jake is also a licensed irrigator and commercial pesticide applicator in the state of Texas.
When he’s not working, Jake enjoys spending time with this wife and their two sons, and is an avid cyclist.
Shannon Gatts
Shannon joined Prewett, Read & Associates shortly after it was founded in 1998. The Texas A&M landscape architecture graduate oversees the production of all drawings and documentation, including site layouts, design concepts, drafting, renderings and cost estimates. She has been a registered landscape architect since 2006. A creative through and through, Shannon enjoys spending time outside of work on craft projects and in her vegetable garden.
Eric Griffith
Eric holds a degree in landscape architecture from Texas Tech University. In 1998, he joined Prewett, Read & Associates after spending three years as a production architect with another local firm. As an associate, he works with clients to finalize their design-build decisions, and also oversees project management and operations.
Outside of work, Eric can be found coaching lacrosse for the Cy-Fair Iron Maidens or the Spring Branch – Memorial Sports Association.
Chris Howse
Chris joined Prewett, Read and Associates in 2008, bringing with her 20 years’ of design and managerial experience. Today, she oversees maintenance contracts and scheduling of the crews. Prior to joining the company, she spent over a decade with the Pennsylvania Horticulture Society and is a licensed landscape architect in Pennsylvania. She holds a bachelor of science in landscape architecture from Temple University.
Bret Whitacre
Bret, a landscape architecture graduate from Texas A&M University, joined Prewett, Read & Associates in 2008. As a landscape designer, he translates conceptual ideas into an organized visual representation.
An avid soccer player, when he’s not working, Bret can be found playing soccer with various local recreational leagues, including the Houston Football Association and the Houston Women’s Soccer Association.
Tamara Carreira
Tamara joined Prewett, Read & Associates in 2011. As office manager, she oversees the company’s daily operations, ensuring client and employee needs are promptly met.
Outside of work, the Florida native enjoys being a mom to her son and auntie to her nephew. Tamara is on the Board of Directors as the Treasurer of Ezekiel 37 Ministry, Inc., which serves the people of Uganda and provides education, medical care and Christian outreach.
Richard Gomez
Richard is a Houston native with more than 20 years of experience in the residential landscape management business. He joined Prewett, Read & Associates in 2000 as a maintenance account representative. In this position, he acts as a main point of contact for all maintenance needs. Off the clock, Richard likes to spend time with his two sons. He is also an avid sports fan and likes to fish.
Lynn Murphy
New to the Prewett, Read and Associates team as of 2017, Lynn oversees maintenance clients and supervision of our crews. She has over 15 years of managerial experience in addition to 7 years in the landscaping industry. Lynn has a Bachelor’s degree in Geology and Environmental Science. Her professional credentials include Master Gardener and Landscape for Life Registered Trainer, and she holds a Native Plant Certification from Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.
Lynn is affiliated with the Native Plant Society, Texas Nursery & Landscape Association (TNLA), Ladybird Johnson Wildflower, Houston Arboretum and Urban Harvest. She enjoys spending time with her family who live in the Houston area, as well as gardening, walking, reading and cooking.
Bileta Burns
Bileta joined Prewett, Read and Associates in 2017 with over 15 years of experience in the landscaping industry. Currently she oversees maintenance contracts and the crews. Her experience encompasses landscape design and installation and water feature/ pond design and installation. Bileta also holds multiple professional credentials including certified Aquascapes Contractor, Floral Designer and Event Planner/Coordinator. She has received numerous Home & Garden Expo Awards.
Bileta’s previous experience was in the Oil and Gas Industry for 25 years.
In her free time, Bileta enjoys spending time with friends and supporting her church and different charities. She assisted Corpus Christi Independent School District in their Eco-Friendly Pond Beautification and the City of Kingsville in the redesign and beautification of the Kenedy Park.
Staley Tomforde
Staley joined Prewett, Read & Associates in 2018 with nearly five years of experience in the landscape industry. Prior to joining our team, she oversaw purchasing, scheduling and invoicing for a full-service landscape firm in the Houston area. During that time, Staley developed valuable skills that support her in the role of Purchasing Manager for our team.
When this Native Houstonian isn’t working, she is traveling, playing tennis or spending time with her family, which includes a puppy named Charlie. Staley is an active member of the Junior League of Houston and the Memorial Park Conservancy Urban Wild young professionals group.
Staley holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Rhodes College.
Mark Moss
Mark holds a landscape architecture degree from Louisiana State University. Shortly after college, he moved to Houston and began his 12-year career as a golf course designer for FingerDyeSpann, Inc. He was responsible for the production of all presentation graphics and construction documents and assisted with surveys and project supervision.
In 2018, Mark joined Prewett, Read & Associates as a landscape designer, putting his skills to work throughout all phases of the design-build process. He produces plans, details, bids and other documents to illustrate concepts – but his favorite aspect of the job is making 3D digital models to present landscape ideas to clients.
Mark is joined in Houston by his wife and young daughter. They enjoy traveling, backpacking, camping and binging on Netflix. Mark is also passionate about golf, history and natural sciences, and he also enjoys playing tennis, albeit he thinks he has more practicing to do!
